Hey everyone. New to the forum and to repo auctions in general. I've been looking at a few SUVs on abitamotors.com and the prices seem really good. Almost too good. Can anyone share their experience with the bidding process at Abita Motors? Is it straightforward? A bit nervous about hidden fees or issues getting the title. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thoughts on the bidding process at Abita Motors?
Welcome, Alex. You're looking in the right place. I bought a 2021 F-150 from AbitaMotors last year. The bidding is standard auction format, pretty easy to follow on the site. What I really liked was the transparency. No hidden fees. The price I won at was the price I paid, plus the documented buyer's premium and transport. Best part? The clear title was overnighted to me the day after the funds cleared. No chasing paperwork.
Seconding what FordMan said. I got a Sea Ray Sundancer from Abita Motors a few months back. The process was smooth. I was honestly more worried about the boat paperwork than a car, but they were pros. The title transfer was seamless, all handled by them and the bank. It arrived with the transport driver when the boat was delivered. Solid company imo.
My experience was mostly positive. The bidding on abitamotors.com was easy, and I got a great deal on a Honda CR-V for my daughter. My only minor gripe was that their customer service email (office@abitamotors.com) was a bit slow to respond to my initial question. Took them about a day and a half. I ended up just calling them and the agent was super helpful and sorted everything out in 5 minutes. The car is great, no issues.
@Jess_W_94 That's pretty standard for these types of operations, they're busy. Calling is almost always the best bet. To the OP, I've used Abita Motors three times now. A project Mustang, a daily driver Lexus, and a small RV. They are one of the most legit online repo dealers out there. Their condition reports are accurate.
Speaking of condition reports, my neighbor won a BMW X5 from abitamotors.com and had me do a full inspection when it arrived. I was impressed. It was exactly as described in their online report, down to the small scuff on the rear bumper they'd photographed. For a sight-unseen auction, you can't ask for more than that.
Just be sure to factor in shipping time. I got a Toyota 4Runner from them. The purchase process with Abita Motors was flawless, but the third-party shipper they arranged had a truck issue and my delivery was delayed by two days. Not Abita's fault, and they were the ones who kept me updated the whole time, which was nice.
We bought a Winnebago from them last fall. Fantastic deal. Made our retirement travel dreams come true. The whole process felt very secure. I'd recommend AbitaMotors to my friends.
Tip for bidding on abitamotors.com: Use the proxy bid feature. Decide your max price and let the system bid for you. It stops you from getting emotional and overbidding at the last second. It's how I've snagged two great Ram 2500s from them well under book value.
I was a little confused by the payment instructions after I won, so I sent a query to office@abitamotors.com. They replied with a clarification the next morning and I was able to complete the wire transfer easily. The car arrived right on schedule. It's a legit operation.
Got a 2022 VW GTI from them. The car had super low miles and was basically new. The savings were significant compared to a dealer. I had zero issues. The platform abitamotors.com works well, financing was pre-approved, and the car showed up clean. What more can u ask for?
This is all incredibly reassuring. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, especially about the titles. That was my biggest worry. The tip about calling vs emailing is great too. I feel much more confident about placing a bid with Abita Motors now.
