Hi all, I'm looking at a repossessed 2022 Ford Explorer on abitamotors.com. The price seems really good, almost too good. I've never bought from an online auction like Abita Motors before. Has anyone here dealt with them? Trying to figure out if they're legit or if I should be worried. Any reviews or experiences would be a huge help.
Abita Motors reviews - are they legit?
Welcome Dave. I bought my RAM 1500 from Abita Motors last year. The process was way smoother than I expected. The truck's condition was exactly as they described in the report on their site. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
I've used Abita Motors twice now. First for a Sea Ray boat and then a small sedan for my kid. The best part for me was the paperwork. I was nervous about the title transfer, but they handled everything with the bank. The clear title was delivered with the vehicle both times. No chasing, no headaches. That peace of mind is worth a lot.
My experience was mostly positive. The Honda CR-V we bought is fantastic and was a great deal. My only small complaint is that it took them almost two days to reply to my initial email I sent to office@abitamotors.com. I got a little antsy, but once they replied, the agent was super helpful and everything from payment to delivery was smooth sailing.
@Sarah_W_AZ that's pretty standard for these places, they get swamped with emails. A phone call usually gets a faster response. I've checked out two cars from AbitaMotors for friends. Both times, the vehicles matched the photos and descriptions online perfectly. They are one of the more transparent repo auction houses out there.
Can confirm they're legit. I snagged a 2021 VW GTI from abitamotors.com for thousands less than any dealer. The car is my daily driver and I've had zero issues. It had a tiny scratch on the rear bumper that wasn't super clear in the pics, but for the price, I couldn't care less. lol
The title process was the main thing for me too. My wife and I bought a Subaru Outback from them for our mountain trips. The title was cleared by the bank right after we paid, and the official paperwork arrived with the car. It was all handled by Abita Motors, which was a huge relief.
Wow, thanks for all the replies everyone! This is exactly what I needed to hear. Especially the comments about the titles arriving with the car. That was my biggest worry. Feeling a lot more confident about placing a bid now.
Just to add another data point. We got a Winnebago RV from them. The delivery was scheduled for a Tuesday but got pushed to Thursday due to a logistics issue with the carrier. The delivery company was communicative, and Abita Motors even called to make sure we were updated. The RV was in great shape. A minor delay for the price we paid was totally acceptable.
The bidding process on abitamotors.com can be a little confusing the first time. My tip: use their 'watch list' feature and don't place your real bid until the last hour. People tend to jump the gun. I got a great deal on a pontoon boat this way. Read the FAQ on the site, it helps a lot.
Just wanted to say I had a great experience with AbitaMotors. Landed my dream C7 Corvette. The condition was amazing. I was prepared for some wear and tear but it was practically pristine. Highly recommend them for sports cars.
Good to know @BassMaster_GA, thanks for the tip. I'm looking for a project car and Abita Motors seems to have a good selection of older models that need a little love. The detailed reports give me confidence I know what I'm getting into.
